AutoTechLog ("we," "us," "our," or "Company") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and otherwise handle your information when you use our mobile application (the "App").
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide
- Account Information: Name, email address, and authentication credentials
- Business Information: Shop name, shop details, and business information
- Job Data: Vehicle information (VIN, make, model, year), service details, diagnostic codes, repair notes, and labor/parts information
- Customer Information: Customer names, contact information, and vehicle details (as entered by you for record-keeping)
- Voice Data: Audio recordings when you use voice-to-job transcription features (processed via OpenAI's Whisper API)
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Device Information: Device model, operating system, device identifiers, and app version
- Usage Information: Features used, interaction patterns, and app performance metrics
- Push Notification Tokens: Unique identifiers for sending push notifications to your device
- Location Information: General location data may be inferred from your shop information (we do not collect real-time GPS data)
2.3 Information from Third Parties
We may receive information from Apple and other service providers necessary to process your subscription and authenticate your account.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the App and our services
- Process your subscription payments and manage your account
- Send push notifications related to your jobs and bookings
- Perform voice transcription to convert audio to job data
- Provide DTC (diagnostic trouble code) lookup services
- Enable VIN scanning and decoding functionality
- Allow you to generate and share service reports
- Communicate with you about your account, subscription, or App updates
- Detect, prevent, and address technical issues and security threats
- Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests
4. Data Storage and Security
Server Storage: Your data is stored on secure servers provided by Supabase (a PostgreSQL-based backend platform). All data transmissions use industry-standard encryption (TLS/SSL).
Security Measures: We implement row-level security policies, encrypted communications, and access controls to protect your data. However, no security system is impenetrable, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Data Retention: Your data is retained for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide our services. Upon account deletion, your data is permanently removed from our systems within 30 days.
5. Sharing Your Information
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:
- Service Providers: With third-party service providers (OpenAI for voice transcription, Apple for payments, Supabase for data storage) who are bound by confidentiality agreements
- Legal Requirements: When required by law, court order, or government authority
- Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (you will be notified of any such transfer)
- Your Consent: When you explicitly authorize us to share your information
6. Subscription and Billing Information
Subscription payments are processed through Apple's App Store. We do not directly collect or store your credit card information. Apple manages all billing information according to their privacy and security standards. Your transaction information is retained as needed for billing and tax purposes.
7. Third-Party Services
The App may integrate with or use data from third-party services:
- OpenAI: Voice transcription data is sent to OpenAI's Whisper API for processing. Review OpenAI's privacy policy at https://openai.com/privacy
- Tesseract.js: VIN scanning uses local image processing; no data is sent to external servers
- DTC Database: Diagnostic trouble codes are provided from a public database and are not tied to your personal information
8. User Rights and Data Deletion
You have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Correction: Request that we update or correct inaccurate information
- Deletion: Request deletion of your account and all associated data (see our Data Deletion Policy)
- Opt-Out: Disable push notifications through your device settings

9. Children's Privacy
The App is not designed for users under 13 years old. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete such information immediately.
10. California Privacy Rights
If you are a California resident, you may have additional privacy rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). You have the right to know what data is collected, to delete data, and to opt-out of data sales (though we do not sell your data). To exercise these rights, contact us at support@autotechlog.com.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of significant changes via email or through a prominent notice in the App. Your continued use of the App following such notification constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
